The Full Story
I'm guilty of attending too many crafting courses and seemingly scraping the surface with some, and getting very involved in others. I've done courses in stained glass window making, upholstery, bookbinding, pottery, sewing and through an art group I belong to, dabble in art too. I live in the UK, but spend a lot of time in Cyprus, so am
I get a lot of satisfaction unearthing and learning about the tools of the craft, and am always blown away by the uniqueness of what each tool does. I spend hours trawling through Youtube and Instgram and always manage to loose the 'thing' or 'technique' or that fantastic expert I created this site as a place where I can save, watch again, remind myself of things as I go along.

A craft is a skilled activity or a handicraft that involves making something by hand. It typically requires a high degree of manual dexterity, patience, and attention to detail. Crafts can be functional or decorative, and can include a wide range of activities such as knitting, woodworking, pottery, leatherwork, and jewelry making.

Crafts are often associated with traditional and folk art, and have been passed down through generations as a way of preserving cultural heritage. However, crafts can also be modern and contemporary, and can be used to create innovative and cutting-edge designs.

On the other hand, art is a broader term that encompasses a wider range of creative activities that express emotion and imagination. Art can be visual, such as painting, sculpture, and photography, or it can be performing, such as music, dance, and theater. Art is often seen as a form of self-expression, and can be used to explore social and cultural issues, challenge established norms, and convey complex ideas.

While crafts and arts both involve creative expression and the use of skilled techniques, the main difference between the two is that crafts tend to be more focused on creating functional or decorative objects, while art is more focused on creating original works that are meant to convey a message or emotion. Additionally, crafts are often associated with traditional or folk art, while art can be more experimental and avant-garde.
